Apple iPhone 16 review: Unexpectedly irksome
The iPhone 16 is a solid enough phone but has bugged me more than usual or expected, even beyond the lack of Apple Intelligence. If you’re set on an affordable and compact flagship model then it does the job but, AI promises aside, it’s only worth it if you’re jumping at least two generations.

- Attractive design, Powerful performance, Compact and colourful display, Solid camera performance
Cons:
- No Apple Intelligence at launch, Camera Control placement, Some software bugs, 60Hz refresh rate

- Fun, refreshing new design, Stunning colors this year, Camera Control is so, so good, The Action button rules, Excellent camera system, Reliable battery life
Cons:
- 60Hz display, no always-on display, Slow charging speeds, Apple Intelligence not yet available

The iPhone 16 offers a nice balance between the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, without too many tradeoffs.
