Apple iPhone 16 review: Perfecting the basics with a promise of more intelligence
The iPhone 16 offers a nice balance between the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, without too many tradeoffs.
Apple iPhone 16 review: Almost pro
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus get all sorts of new features that bring them more in line with the pro models.- Camera Control is kinda cool!, A18 chip brings improved performance, You get an Action Button, Better battery life, Faster wired and wireless charging
- Camera Control isn’t perfect, Still no ProMotion

Apple iPhone 16
It might not be that exciting for iPhone 15 owners, but for older iPhone owners, there’s a lot to love about the iPhone 16 experience – it’s just a shame the screen is still capped at 60Hz.- New Action Button & Camera Controls, Two-generation jump in processing power, Relatively compact and portable
- Camera Control placement isn’t ideal, Apple Intelligence isn’t the best – yet, No telephoto lens
Apple iPhone 16 review: Unexpectedly irksome
The iPhone 16 is a solid enough phone but has bugged me more than usual or expected, even beyond the lack of Apple Intelligence. If you’re set on an affordable and compact flagship model then it does the job but, AI promises aside, it’s only worth it if you’re jumping at least two generations.- Attractive design, Powerful performance, Compact and colourful display, Solid camera performance
- No Apple Intelligence at launch, Camera Control placement, Some software bugs, 60Hz refresh rate
iPhone 16 review: Who needs the Pro?
“The iPhone 16 is a fantastic all-around smartphone. If you're in the market for a new iPhone, this is the one to get.”- Fun, refreshing new design, Stunning colors this year, Camera Control is so, so good, The Action button rules, Excellent camera system, Reliable battery life
- 60Hz display, no always-on display, Slow charging speeds, Apple Intelligence not yet available
iPhone 16 review: No mo’ Pro FOMO
For once, the base model iPhone doesn’t feel like a compromise. Since it’s missing a key feature at launch, we can’t give it a perfect score, but wait a couple of months to get your hands on it and you’ll be the owner of the best base-level iPhone in years.- New chip, Excellent battery life, Fun colours, Cheaper than last year
- Display still just 60Hz, Apple Intelligence not available at launch
iPhone 16 Review: How Untypical, Apple!
Apple introduced its new iPhone models with the accompanying motto, "It's Glowtime". The in-house AI integration of "Apple Intelligence" was supposed to make the iPhone glow, it's just a shame that it's not ready yet. Is it still worth upgrading to the iPhone 16?- New shortcuts with the Action Button and Camera Control, Major hardware upgrade thanks to A18 SoC and 8 GB RAM, Image quality can be customized in many ways, Outstanding battery life
- Lags behind the competition without AI integration, Only 60 Hz refresh rate for the display, Camera Control is only really practical in landscape mode
Apple iPhone 16 (Review Apple iPhone 16)
The best iPhone for most people- Most affordable iPhone 16 model, High-quality hardware, Swift performance, Sharp camera quality, Good battery life, Supports Apple Intelligence
- 60Hz display
The iPhone 16 offers nearly everything I want from a phone
This year's iPhone 16 line blurs the line between the "Pro" and the base-level iPhone by offering a new camera button and the Action Button, alongside the A18 chip.- New colours look great, Overall impressive smartphone package, Photography Styles and Camera Control Button are great
- Still no 120Hz display, Apple Intelligence features are nowhere to be found, In some ways, not that much of an upgrade over the iPhone 15
