Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch review – make room for the mushrooms
One of the hidden gems of the Wii U's games line-up comes to both Switch and 3DS, and it's just as magical as ever.
Pros:
- A great idea that is elegant in its simplicity, and yet full of variety and clever twists
- Lots of unlockable content and hidden secrets
- Gorgeous graphics and sound
Cons:
- It's not very long and the difficultly level never quite advances as far as you'd think
- Playing on a TV creates some control problems

Toad has been around for a long time. From the strange pixelated shape you would encounter when reaching the castle that would tell you that the "princess is in another castle" in the original Super Mario Bros.
Pros:
- Charming music and visuals
- Fun puzzles
- Great retro call-backs
- Near perfect handheld experience
Cons:
- A bit repetitive
- In TV mode
- motion controls can feel awkward
- Removal of Mario 3D World levels

Fun but a rerun
3.5/5: if you played the original version on the Wii U, your not missing much, my husband said that the 5 new levels were fun but not necessarily worth re buying the game for.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Nintendo Switch
I got this game for my 5 year old son. He is pretty good at games but this one is a little more difficult for him and he gets frustrated. I however, love to play it because it is like a giant puzzle. He likes to give me a turn when it gets a little too hard and cheers me on the whole time.

Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Special Episode
Captain Toad's Special Episode is cheap, cheerful and provides a bit more Captain Toad for those of you who want exactly that. You'll probably see the end in less than a day, but it's worth every penny.
Pros:
- The gameplay is still as fun as ever
- There's some really cool level ideas
- Co-op mode adds a new level of fun
Cons:
- You'll be done with it pretty quickly
- The majority of the package is very easy
- It would have been nice to have a few more new levels

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Switch Review – A Wii U Port Done Right
Back in 2014, Toad, of Super Mario fame, starred in his very first game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, for the Wii U. The game received very good reviews – here at COGconnected it received an 87 . Unfortunately, the Wii U was not a huge success.
Pros:
- Beautiful visuals
- Captain Toad and Toadette are cute as ever
- Fun and clever platform puzzler
Cons:
- Minimal new content
- Tacked on two-player mode

My only real gripe about playing the 3DS Treasure Tracker is that although the smaller screens of the system prove a boon for the lower resolution, it's a bit of a double-edged sword in that some of the action is harder to see, as a result. This is especially true on a 2DS.
