A big screen, an almost everlasting battery and solid specs make the Oppo A9 2020 one of the best affordable phones for those who stream a lot of video, and a still great option for almost everyone else on a limited budget.
Superb battery life; Better than average night photos; Good-quality stereo speakers
Plastic back; Two of the four rear cameras seem to do very little; No NFC = no Google Pay
The Oppo A9 2020 is proof that you don't need to pay a fortune for flagship features. With a killer battery, a classy design and a camera that's not to be sniffed at - we'd highly recommend this sub-£250 phone.
The OPPO A9 2020 does offer some very nice features especially for a mid-range device but there are also quite a few compromises that a majority of users might not be willing to overlook.
Large display; Great battery life; Good main camera; Decent overall performance; Triple card tray; Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos; Reverse charging
No fast charging; 720p display; Average low-light photos; Weak haptics motor; Spam notifications; Pre-installed bloatware
It has a 720p screen, and I usually expect to see a 1080p display at the price. However, the effect is less pronounced than I expected, and is offset by the size of the display. I'd rather watch a 15-minute YouTube video on the Oppo A9 2020 than a phone with a more advanced 5.5-inch screen.
Killer battery life; Large screen; Dual field of view camera
Low screen resolution; Glass-look back is plastic; Two of the four rear cameras don't do much
The Oppo A9 2020 is not the most impressive phone around on paper. It has a 720p screen and costs more than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, which has a 1080p display. Only two of its four rear cameras are useful too, but two solid cameras at £220 isn’t bad. However, the screen is surprisingly decent-looking and there’s a good chance you’ll fall in love with the Oppo A9 2020’s battery life – I did.

The strong points of Oppo A9 2020 include its battery backup and speakers. The camera is decent and the performance is also good for the price point. The Oppo A9 2020 could have used a display with full HD resolution and minimised the chin to decrease its height.

Bang for buck, the A9 2020 is hard to beat for its ₦89,500 price tag. It has a big display, decent rear camera, decent processor, oodles of RAM, a massive battery that lasts and lasts, fast charging, and also reverse charging.
Remember the OPPO A7 we reviewed last year, it was well, not on par with the competition, in fact, it was one of the worst value for money smartphone of 2019. Now, they have launched its successor, the A9 2020 .
