- Pocketable size
Cons:
- No hot shoe
- No touchscreen

Sony RX100 III
It was clear from its heritage that the Sony RX100 III would be an exciting camera, given that both its predecessors earned our Pocket Camera of the Year award, two years running. But that level of success also meant some mighty big shoes to fill.
Pros:
- Pocket-friendly design
- Popup electronic viewfinder
- Bright lens across the zoom range
- Great performance with very fast autofocus
- Very high resolution gives lots of detail in good light
- High ISO noise levels much better than most pocket camera rivals
- Wi-Fi wireless networking, Only very slightly...
Cons:
- Feels a little unbalanced without an accessory grip
- Not as much telephoto reach as its siblings
- Noise processing is heavier-handed than in earlier models
- Quite pricey for a fixed-lens camera, Center of gravity is further left, so doesn't feel as comfortable without a grip, Hand grip is an...

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 Mark III
The RX100 Mark III is the second upgrade to Sony's successful line of fixed-lens compact cameras, which began roughly two years ago with the original RX100. Highlights of the new model include a faster lens with wider coverage, a built-in pop-up viewfinder, the latest BIONZ X image processor,...

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III review
At the top of this page I described the RX100 III as the best all-round compact for enthusiasts right now. I realize there'll be cries from those who love larger models like the Fujifilm X100s, but while the Fuji delivers better quality images, it's simply not what I would describe as a compact...
Pros:
- Bigger than average 1in sensor in compact body
- Useful 24-70mm equivalent range
- Bright f1.8-2.8 focal ratio and built-in ND filter
- Built-in electronic viewfinder
- Vertically tilting screen which angles 180 degrees
- Built in Wifi with NFC.
Cons:
- Too many button presses to reposition AF area
- Maximum focal length ‘only' 70mm
- Shallow depth of field still a challenge
- Average stabilisation
- Smartphone app can't tag GPS co-ordinates
- Screen isn't touch-sensitive
- No hotshoe or microphone input
- No miniature effect mode for movies
- Needs SDXC...

The RX100 III is the most capable compact camera we've ever seen. With its built-in viewfinder and consistently fast lens, there's nothing that can provide better image quality in such a small package.
Pros:
- Large sensor undoubtedly the best in its class
- Bright maximum apertures across zoom range gives huge flexibility
- High quality
- responsive viewfinder
- Built-in ND filter helps both video and stills shooting in bright light
- Excellent level of control over video (including manual exposure
- Pleasant...
Cons:
- Clickless, slightly laggy control dial can make shooting experience feel disconnected, Focus peaking rather prone to indicating everything as in-focus, JPEG sharpening a little clumsy and interacts oddly with heavy noise reduction, Autofocus can be hesitant, especially in low light
- AF improves when...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III Review
The RX100 III is the most capable compact camera we've ever seen. With its built-in viewfinder and consistently fast lens, there's nothing that can provide better image quality in such a small package. It's not the perfect camera to take shot-to-shot control over, but its capability means it justifies its high price tag.
Pros:
- Getting excellent quality images and video, on the go.
Cons:
- Low light shooters and those who want the camera to always be ready for the next shot.

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 Mark III review: Sony RX100 III: A better camera but not necessarily a better buy
The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III is an overall great camera that delivers significant improvements over the RX100 II, but not everyone will think it's worth the extra cost. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III (aka RX100M3) is quite a different animal from its sibling, the Editors' Choice RX100M2 . With a manufacturer price of $800 (£700, AU$1,100) it costs about $150 (£110, AU$200) more, and targets enthusiasts willing to pay more for a faster lens, improved video quality, and an electronic viewfinder. And the M3 is an appealing camera for that group, albeit not without causing some aggravation along the way.
Pros:
- A great electronic viewfinder that doesn't increase the size of the svelte Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III is one of the camera's highlights. Plus it offers excellent performance, photo and video quality.
Cons:
- The camera shuts down when you retract the viewfinder, the autofocus system could be more consistent, and it has poor battery life.
