HEIC INCOMPATIBLE

If you are looking for a device to back up photos and video from iPhone, skip my cloud. It's been months since apple switched to this HEIC file format, they haven't come up with any updates to support it. You can't even open the HEIC files or view thumbnails in the app.

WD Cloud Drive

There are only two kinds of computer users out there ... Those that have lost data ... and those that will, which is why it's necessary to back up your data, as your computer is just a machine, but your data is invaluable.

Completely unreliable

Looks like a great idea, but the product is so unreliable that we've basically just stopped using it. I've had to factory reset it twice (on customer services recommendation), which wipes out all user accounts. My partner hasn't been able to log in to it since the first week we had it.

Nice product

Very convenient for sharing and access ing files of all types. However most apps cannot access the drive so in order to use the files thay have to be moved off of the drive onto your device.

Much better than the older drives

It appears to have a faster process or than the older 4TB model that I had. In the old version, the web based user interface was so sluggish when copying files. Even when using their wdmycloud app to show videos and photos, it was slow to bring up a list of files. Much faster now.

Great device

I have attached a 6TB USB3 Hard disk to it and functions perfectly. The My cloud portion of it works well, unless you want to access your control panel. It is limited on ram, when you strip services it is a rock solid performer.

Works fairly well in Ultimate Edition Linux (writing software to auto detect it) I am by hobby an Operating System Architect & Leading Programmer; I see at peak 110 MB/s via avg 90 MB/s, 80 at the low; Make sure you have Gigabit; Cables mean a ton, do not bottleneck yourself.

I have a Quad Core Atom running Win 10 (Voyo V2) used as a media center in the bedroom and can not find the NAS even with Western Digitals software & hard wired; It has a USB Netgear AC 6200 wireless adapter, I am currently fighting with, because the integrated is something to be desired.

Needed for backup storage. Light use

I'm using this primarily for some office management, photo/video storage, and backup of my cell phone and tablet. Secondary is using the space for networked media devices. I was able to plug in the device, and attach my new nGear 1ft Cat6a cable.

3Tb storage (Chosen option; 1Gb network support; Comes with 2-3ft Cat 5e Cable; Allows for additional cloud syncing/backup; Ideal for private cloud

Does not support auto-backup from USB; Power on/off & reset through web app
